Yuletide Steak Salad Surprise

So, you’re whipping up an Xmas feast for your loved ones this year, and how else to start off than with a meaty and mouth watering steak salad! Other than the yummy sirloin/ribeye used, the perfect complement would be the vinaigrette, which is made using FairPrice Extra Virgin Olive Oil, lemon, honey, and some rosemary.

  1. 400g sirloin or ribeye steak

  2. Salt and pepper to taste

  3. 1 tsp FairPrice Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  4. 2 tbsp butter

  5. 150g wild rockets

  6. 1 pomegranate

  7. 1 cup walnut


  1. ¼ cup FairPrice Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  2. 2 tbsp lemon juice

  3. Zest from 1 lemon

  4. 2 tbsp honey

  5. 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  6. 2 sprigs rosemary (chopped)

  7. Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Brush FairPrice extra virgin olive oil on steak and season with salt and pepper on both sides.

  2. In a hot pan, cook steak for 6 minutes or medium rare, flipping every minute while basting steak with butter. Adjust timing to your preference for the doneness of the steak. Set steak aside to rest.

  3. In a bowl combine the dressing ingredients and mix well.

  4. On a large plate lay out wild rockets with pomegranate seeds and walnuts.

  5. Cut rested steak into slices and lay over the salad.

  6. Drizzle the honey lemon vinaigrette on top and serve.
