Mee Goreng – 印度炒面

Mee Goreng Mamak is the indian version fried noodles that is also sweet savoury and spicy all at the same time! The signature red spicy noodle captures the harmonized notes of flavours which just explodes in your mouth. The colours come from the slight red colouring added to the sambal chili. Our rendition of this recipe usually contains seafood like prawns and sometimes other ingredients like chicken, finished off with a dollop of sweet ketchup on the side with fresh cucumbers…mmm!!

It is truly a one “wok” wonder that you can whip up for your family in minutes!

  1. 300g yellow Noodles

  2. 6 prawns (shelled)

  3. 1 tbsp minced garlic

  4. 1/2 red onion (sliced)

  5. 40g chopped cabbage

  6. 10g diced tomatoes

  7. 30g bean sprouts

  8. 3 tbsp oil

  9. 4 tbsp water

  10. 1 tbsp sambal (mixed with a pinch of red colouring powder)

  11. 3 tbsp tomato ketchup

  12. ½ tbsp light soya sauce

  13. ½ tbsp dark soya sauce

  14. ½ tsp salt and sugar (adjust to taste)

  15. 1 egg

  16. 50g chye sim

  17. chopped cucumber with ketchup

  18. 1 calamansi


  1. Add 3 tbsp oil with 1 tbsp minced garlic to hot pan / wok

  2. Next add 6 prawns and stir fry

  3. Add the following vegetables: 1/2 red onion (sliced), 40g chopped cabbage, 10g chopped, tomatoes,30g bean sprouts,

  4. Continue to stir fry then add in 300g yellow noodles

  5. Add 2 tbsp water and cook until noodle starts to soften

  6. Add 1 tbsp sambal (mixed with a pinch of red colouring powder),

  7. 3 tbsp tomato ketchup,

  8. ½ tbsp light soya sauce,

  9. ½ tbsp dark soya sauce,

  10. ¼ tbsp salt,

  11. ½ tbsp sugar,

  12. Stir fry and mix evenly

  13. Crack an egg and scramble it on the side of the pan then mix it into the noodles

  14. Add 50g chye sim and fry for another 2-3 mins

  15. Serve with chopped cucumber, ketchup and calamansi
