Jemput Jemput (Mashed Banana Fritters)

Anyone with a sweet tooth (or not) would love this classic snack! As with its cousin goreng pisang (deep fried bananas), it’s main ingredient is bananas.

What’s different is, they are mashed up along with flour and grated coconut for that extra fragrance and texture then deep-fried to Perfection! Crispy on the outside, moist and fluffy on the inside, it is so simple yet addictive!

In the interest of designing less-sugar recipes, this dish was made without any sugar, compared to 60g of brown sugar which would normally be used! All natural sweetness, just try it out!

  1. 250 grams of ripe bananas

  2. 100 grams of grated coconut

  3. 100 grams of plain flour

  4. 50 grams of rice flour

  5. 1 teaspoon of baking powder


  1. Mash the bananas until it is pureed in a medium sized mixing bowl

  2. Add the grated coconut to the pureed bananas

  3. Sift the plain flour, rice flour and baking powder together

  4. carefully fold the flour mixture into the banana puree mixture until well incorporated

  5. Heat your vegetable oil until 160 degrees celsius

  6. carefully drop a tablespoon of the banana mixture into the hot oil and fry until golden brown
