Lemon Chicken Chop – 柠檬鸡扒

A long forgotten dish overshadowed by the Taiwanese and Korean fried chicken craze.

Now, everyone must have eaten LEMON CHICKEN or heard of it before somewhere! This classic dish was wildly popular decades ago. Everyone, from the young to the old loved it! Good old crispy fried chicken coated with a sweet and tangy sauce, oozing with fresh scent of lemons.

Ingredients

  1. 3 boneless chicken thighs

  2. 1 cup potato starch

  3. oil for frying

  4. Marinade

  5. 1 tbsp light soy sauce

  6. ½ tsp salt

  7. ¼ tsp white pepper

  8. 1 tbsp sesame oil

  9. 1 egg white

  10. Sauce

  11. Juice from 1 lemon

  12. 3 tbsp plum sauce

  13. ½ an onion (sliced)

  14. ½ a lemon (sliced)

  15. ½ cup water

  16. 1 tbsp oil

  17. 3 boneless chicken thighs

  18. 1 cup potato starch

  19. oil for frying

  20. Marinade

  21. 1 tbsp light soy sauce

  22. ½ tsp salt

  23. ¼ tsp white pepper

  24. 1 tbsp sesame oil

  25. 1 egg white

  26. Sauce

  27. Juice from 1 lemon

  28. 3 tbsp plum sauce

  29. ½ an onion (sliced)

  30. ½ a lemon (sliced)

  31. ½ cup water

  32. 1 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate 3 boneless chicken thighs with

  2. 1 tbsp light soy sauce, ½ tsp salt, ¼ tsp white pepper, 1 tbsp sesame oil and 1 egg white

  3. Mix well and set aside let it marinate for 30 mins

  4. Spread 1 cup potato starch on a tray

  5. Coat marinated chicken thighs with potato starch

  6. Heat oil to 180 degrees C, deep-fry chicken thighs until golden brown

  7. Drain and set aside

  8. Juice 1 lemon and remove seeds

  9. Slice ½ an onion

  10. Slice ½ a lemon

  11. To make lemon sauce, heat 1 tbsp oil in wok

  12. Add sliced onions and stir fry till soften

  13. Add ½ cup water, 3 tbsp plum sauce, juice from 1 lemon and sliced lemons

  14. Mix well and cook till sauce thickens

  15. Cut chicken thighs into strips

  16. Add lemon sauce to chicken thighs and serve.

  17. Marinate 3 boneless chicken thighs with
