Deep Fried Oysters – 酥炸牡蛎

These delightful oyster party poppers suits every occasion from a casual family dinner to a Saturday night party. Sure to make your guests go wow.

The simple recipe consists of just eggs, oysters and panko bread crumbs.

We start off coating fresh oysters in egg wash, followed by panko. This seals all the FLAVOUR in. The oysters itself are so flavourful on its own, they don’t need much seasoning. Next, watch them crisp up in the sizzling hot oil, make sure your oil is sizzling hot! Final step, pop one into your mouth! (beware of the hot juices!)

  1. 500g frozen oyster meat

  2. 2 eggs

  3. 1½ cups panko bread crumbs

  4. ½ tsp pepper

  5. 1 tsp salt

  6. Oil for deep-frying

  7. Chopped spring onions

  8. Mayonnaise for dipping

  9. Sweet thai chili sauce for dipping

  10. Lemon slices


  1. Wash and drain 500g oyster meat

  2. Crack and beat 2 eggs

  3. Add 1½ cups panko bread crumbs to a tray

  4. Season with ½ tsp pepper and 1 tsp salt

  5. Add oyster meat to beaten eggs and mix well

  6. Coat oysters with panko bread crumbs

  7. Heat sufficient oil in a wok, deep-fry oysters till golden brown

  8. Drain and set aside

  9. Add chopped spring onions

  10. Serve with mayonnaise, thai chili sauce and lemon slices
