Guinness Stout Brownies – 黑啤布朗尼

A wholesome Christmas meal isn’t complete without desserts. This year, we served up some decadently chocolate brownies. Stout was added to balance out the richness and crushed hazelnuts for some extra crunch.

  1. 175g unsalted butter

  2. 150g dark chocolate (70%)

  3. 1 vanilla pod

  4. 200g caster sugar

  5. Pinch of salt (optional)

  6. 2 eggs

  7. 250ml Guinness stout

  8. 100g flour

  9. 1 tsp baking powder

  10. 50g cocoa powder

  11. 150g roasted hazelnuts

  12. Icing sugar for dusting

  13. Berries for garnish


  1. Melt and mix 175g unsalted butter, 150g dark chocolate (70%) and seeds from 1 vanilla pod in a bowl over a bain marie. Add a pinch of salt (optional)

  2. Turn the heat off, and mix in 200g caster sugar

  3. Remove from bain marie and mix in two eggs.

  4. Add 250ml Guinness stout and mix well

  5. In a big mixing bowl sift 100g flour, 1 tsp baking powder and 50g cocoa powder.

  6. Mix and add in stout mixture to slowly

  7. Once you get a smooth batter transfer it to a lined 8” baking tin.

  8. Bake at 180°C for 20-25 minutes

  9. Remove from oven and set aside to cool down

  10. Cut into serving portions and dust with icing sugar

  11. Garnish with berries.
