We’re going all out this Lunar New Year to impress our relatives with food made with love (and effort)! Score points from the elders with this made-from-scratch Sambal Sotong stuffed with our homemade Shrimp Paste.

Our squid was cooked to perfection thanks to @panasonicsg’s Multifunction Grill Steam Oven. Its Inverter Technology allowed us to cook two or more items at the same time with an even heat distribution — perfect for tricky dishes like squid.

It isn’t Sambal Sotong without the Sambal! We used @panasonicsg’s Glass Jug Blender to get the smoothest Rempah. And when used in short, quick intervals, its efficient power blades can cut through prawns, giving our Shrimp Paste an ideal crunch. Plus, you can use the chopper attachment for veggies and meats with ease!

In a pan over medium heat, add in 4 tbsp cooking oil and add sambal in. Cook until sambal tumis is slightly dry and darkened.

Wash and peel shrimp. Add into a blender, add fish sauce, white pepper, sugar, cornstarch and egg white. Blitz for about 3-4 presses, making sure not to overmix.
