This sweet treat, otherwise known as butter rice cookies, is equal parts crispy and chewy, with all the fun textures you want in a handheld snack.

The use of tapioca and glutinous rice flour gives each piece a mochi-like centre, whilst the outside is caramelised and crispy – think of this as a cross between caneles and mochi! 

Popular condiments to serve with these rice cakes are condensed milk, honey or maple syrup.
