Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Wrap – 咸蛋炸鸡卷

Trying to get the kids to eat more wholemeal and want to make it tasty? We have a solution – salted egg yolk chicken wraps! This recipe pairs two of our favourite things, namely salted egg yolk sauce and hearty fried chicken. This is a perfect recipe for the busy family especially as a lunchbox snack for kids.

We used FairPrice Reduced Fat cheese slices, melted together with salted egg yolk powder, butter, and curry leaves to create a salty and cheesy sauce that blends well with the fried chicken. Finish it off with toasted FairPrice wholemeal wraps to create the perfect snack.

  1. 1 pkt FairPrice wholemeal wraps

  2. 2 tomato (sliced)

  3. 1 romaine lettuce

  4. 2 chicken thigh

  5. 2 tbsp light soy sauce

  6. 2 tbsp sesame oil

  7. ½ tsp white pepper powder

  8. 1 egg white

  9. 1 cup corn starch

  10. 5 tbsp salted egg yolk powder

  11. 1 tsp salt

  12. 1 tsp sugar

  13. Oil for deep frying

Salted egg yolk cheese sauce:

  1. 3 FairPrice Reduced Fat cheese slices

  2. 50g salted egg yolk powder

  3. 50g butter

  4. 1 stalk curry leaves

  5. ½ tbsp sugar

  6. 150ml milk


  1. Cut chicken thighs into strips.

  2. Marinate chicken strips with light soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper powder and egg white for 30 minutes.

  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and add in curry leaves on low heat. Stir fry until fragrant

  4. Mix in 50g of salted egg yolk powder.

  5. Add in milk and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and add in FairPrice Reduced Fat cheese slices.

  6. Once cheese slices in melts in the sauce, remove from heat and set aside.

  7. In a bowl, mix corn starch, 5 tbsp salted egg yolk powder, salt and sugar. Mix well and set aside.

  8. Evenly coat marinated chicken with the cornstarch mixture. Lay coated chicken strips on a plate.

  9. In a pot with oil at medium high heat, deep fry chicken strips until golden brown and crispy.

  10. Strain and set aside.

  11. In a pan, toast FairPrice wholemeal wraps for 30 seconds on both sides.

  12. Lay wraps on a board, add romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, fried chicken and salted egg yolk sauce.

  13. Fold the 2 sides of the wrap and use a toothpick to secure the wrap.
