1. Prawn Tacos & Cabbage Slaw

This recipe is as simple as it looks. All you need for the filing are some minced pork, water chestnuts, shallots, dried mushrooms, spring onions, eggs, and some seasoning. After layering your beancurd skin with a thick amount of filing, roll it up and pop it into the air fryer. 5. Prawn and Avocado Tostadas

For the guacamole, simply mash some avocados together with cilantro, lime juice, onion, olive oil, salt, and pepper. This process is really up to your own creativity, so feel free to experiment however you like! Within just 15 minutes, you’ll have a delectable plate of crispy wonton skins layered with guacamole and prawns. Top this off with some pickled tomato mixture and your dish is ready to be served.

For this recipe, you’ll need to marinate the pork collar with a mixture of ingredients such as hoisin sauce, honey, light and dark soya sauce, and shaoxing wine. You can choose to marinate it for 6 hours or overnight in the fridge.

For the marinade, you’ll need some shallots, garlic, ginger, and seasoning sauces. Marinate the chicken and grill it in the air fryer to get that golden charred exterior. Finally, serve it with some calamansi and homemade chilli dip and you’re all set to awe your guests!

8. Easy One Pot Tau Yu Bak

9. ZiChar-Style Marmite Chicken

 

Next up is Marmite Chicken, a go-to zi char dish for many. Regardless of whether you love marmite or not, our recipe will likely suit your palate with its rich and sweet flavours. You’d be happy to know that we’ve also included some tips on how to keep your sauces thick and sticky, and your chicken fried and crispy.

 

For this dish, all you need are easily obtainable ingredients including boneless chicken thighs, cooking cream, cornstarch, baking soda, and seasonings such as salt and garlic powder. After marinating the chicken, coat the pieces with flour mixture and fry until golden brown. Lastly, toss the chicken into your sauce mixture, sprinkle with sesame seeds and there you have it — a sizzling hot plate of sweet and savoury goodness!

Making sio bak may seem daunting to some, but rest assured you’ll be fine as long as you follow the steps carefully.

All you need are ingredients such as salt, fermented beancurd, and five spice powder to create the marinade, and an air fryer to fry the pork belly in.
