Butter Cereal Crispy Taukwa – 牛油麦片脆皮豆腐

Zi char level goodness made good at home! This recipe is super simple, yet a fulfilling crowd pleaser that’s bound to make you smile. 

The recipe makes use of Fortune Tau Kwa cut into bite sized cubes, mixed well with panko breadcrumbs and a double hitting cereal mixture, for that extra crisp goodness to go with the firm soft tau kwa!

  1. 4 pieces Fortune Tau Kwa (2 packs)

  2. 40g potato starch

  3. 2 eggs (lightly beaten)

  4. 100g panko breadcrumbs

  5. 1 tbsp oil

  6. 40g salted butter

  7. 3 chilli padi (chopped)

  8. 30-40 curry leaves

  9. Ingredients

    Cereal Mixture:

    1. 60g cereal

    2. ½ tbsp milk powder

    3. 1 tbsp sugar

    4. 1 tsp chicken powder

    5. 1 tsp salt

    6. ½ tsp white pepper


    1. Drain and pat dry 4 pieces of Fortune Tau Kwa with kitchen paper. Cut them into bite size cubes.

    2. Coat Tau Kwa cubes with potato starch, followed by egg wash and lastly with panko breadcrumbs. Repeat for all the Tau Kwa cubes and set aside.

    3. Shallow fry the Tau Kwa cubes until crispy and golden. Strain and set aside.

    4. Mix together in a bowl all the ingredients for the cereal mixture.

    5. In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil, add and melt butter.

    6. Add chopped chilli padis and curry leaves. Stir fry on low heat until fragrant.

    7. Add in cereal mixture and stir fry on low heat. Careful not to burn the cereals.

    8. Add in the crispy Tau Kwa cubes toss and mix well. Serve.
