Sesame Oil Chicken

Sesame Oil Chicken is one of those dishes many of us remember from our old childhood days. It’s a simple comfort food that has earned a place in many of our hearts, and that many mothers know by heart. This is also one of those rare times where a dish with the word “oil” in it is actually amazingly healthy!
Often, it’s that unmistakable fragrance of wok-tossed ginger slivers in sesame oil which first tempts us by nose. Aside from its amazing aroma, the dish is a popular choice among recovering mothers and is highly sought out for its therapeutic and restorative effects.
The core ingredients are delightfully simple, combining chicken, ginger, and sesame oil with a host of subtle supporting stars. Choosing high quality cuts of meat will help you bring out the best flavours with your marinade during the stir fry and create that beautiful succulent texture.

Adjust Servings
600g chicken (cut into bite size pieces)
80ml Huiji Waist Tonic
3tbsp sesame oil
60gm ginger (julienned).
½tsp dark soya sauce
3tbsp light soya sauce
2tsp oyster sauce
¼tsp pepper
10g rock sugar
100ml water
1stalk spring onion (chopped)



Marinate chicken pieces with 30ml Huiji Waist Tonic, 1 tbsp light soya sauce, ¼ tsp white pepper and ½ tbsp sesame oil for 15 minutes.
Mark as complete

Heat 2½ tbsp sesame oil. Add julienned ginger fry until fragrant.
Mark as complete

Add marinated chicken and stir fry for 2 minutes.
Mark as complete

Season it with ½ tsp dark soya sauce, 2 tbsp light soya sauce, 10g rock sugar and 2 tsp oyster sauce. Stir fry for 2 minutes.
Mark as complete

Pour in 100ml water. Stir and cover for 15 minutes.
Mark as complete

Remove cover, stir fry chicken until cooked and sauce thickens.
Mark as complete

Switch off fire and pour in 50ml Huiji Waist Tonic.
Mark as complete

Garnish with chopped spring onions.
Mark as complete
