Orh Ni – 芋泥

Our version of Orh Ni is smooth, creamy and delicious. The secret ingredient to this texture is by using pork lard to make the paste super smooth with that silk-like creaminess. The lard also gives this dish the fragrance that other ingredients are unable to provide!

We added in mashed pumpkin and gingko nuts for that awesome pairing, and finish it off by adding coconut cream. It’s super easy to make, and definitely a family favourite – for us the perfect CNY dessert!

  1. 600g of yam (cut into cubes)

  2. 100g pork lard

  3. 100g sugar (adjust to taste)

  4. 100g pumpkin

  5. 100ml water

  6. 50g ginkgo nuts

  7. 50ml Coconut milk to taste


  1. Steam 100g pumpkin for 15mins or until soft

  2. Mash steamed pumpkin with a fork and set aside

  3. Steam 50g ginkgo nuts for 10mins

  4. Remove and set aside

  5. Steam 600g of yam (cut into cubes) for 25mins or until soft

  6. Remove and add to food processor while hot

  7. Add 50ml water blend till smooth and set aside

  8. Melt 100g pork lard in a wok

  9. Add blended yam and mix well

  10. Add 50ml water

  11. and 100g sugar (adjust to taste)

  12. Stir fry and mix until a smooth paste

  13. Scoop yam paste into bowl

  14. Add steamed pumpkin mash,

  15. coconut milk to taste

  16. and top with ginkgo nuts
