Our version of Orh Ni is smooth, creamy and delicious. The secret ingredient to this texture is by using pork lard to make the paste super smooth with that silk-like creaminess. The lard also gives this dish the fragrance that other ingredients are unable to provide!
We added in mashed pumpkin and gingko nuts for that awesome pairing, and finish it off by adding coconut cream. It’s super easy to make, and definitely a family favourite – for us the perfect CNY dessert!

Ingredients

Adjust Servings
600g of yam (cut into cubes)
100g pork lard
100g sugar (adjust to taste)
100g pumpkin
100ml water
50g ginkgo nuts
50ml Coconut milk to taste

Directions

1.

Steam 100g pumpkin for 15mins or until soft
Mark as complete
2.

Mash steamed pumpkin with a fork and set aside
Mark as complete

Steam 50g ginkgo nuts for 10mins
Mark as complete
4.

Remove and set aside
Mark as complete
5.

Steam 600g of yam (cut into cubes) for 25mins or until soft
Mark as complete

Remove and add to food processor while hot
Mark as complete

Add 50ml water blend till smooth and set aside
Mark as complete

Melt 100g pork lard in a wok
Mark as complete
9.

Add blended yam and mix well
Mark as complete

Add 50ml water
Mark as complete

and 100g sugar (adjust to taste)
Mark as complete

Stir fry and mix until a smooth paste
Mark as complete

Scoop yam paste into bowl
Mark as complete

Add steamed pumpkin mash,

coconut milk to taste

and top with ginkgo nuts
