Hamburg Steak – 汉堡牛排

Hamburg Steaks are fancy meals made with simple ingredients. They are pretty much single serving meatloafs and if plated well, are bound to impress anyone. 

With easy-to-get ingredients and this air fryer recipe, fancy Hamburg Steak dinners are a breeze.

  1. 300g minced beef

  2. 150g minced pork

  3. 1 onion (minced)

  4. 1 large egg

  5. 1 tsp salt

  6. 1 tsp black pepper

  7. ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  8. 30ml milk

  9. 20g panko bread crumbs

  10. 1 whole broccoli

  11. 1 whole carrot

  12. 4 small (300g) potatoes

Hamburg sauce:

  1. 3 tbsp butter

  2. 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce

  3. 2 tbsp ketchup

  4. 100ml red wine

  5. 3 tbsp water

  6. 1 tbsp brown sugar

  7. 2 tsp dijon mustard

  8. 1 tsp salt and pepper (to preference)


  1. Cut 1 onion until fine. In a small pan over medium heat, add 1 tbsp of cooking oil. And add chopped onion, sauté until caramelized and slightly browned. Set aside to cool.

  2. In a large mixing, add in minced beef, minced pork, salt, black pepper, ground nutmeg, bread crumbs and milk.

  3. Once onions are cooled, add them into a mixing bowl, add an egg and mix well until the texture is slightly sticky.

  4. In the mixing bowl, divide mixture into and mould into a round disk, tossing between hands repeatedly to remove air pockets.

  5. Set aside on a try and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

  6. Oil basket of air fryer and add hamburg steaks into basket.

  7. Air fry for 15 minutes at 200°C.

  8. Remove from the air fryer and set aside.

  9. Add in cut vegetables and air fry at 180°C.

  10. While air frying, heat butter on low and add in the rest of the ingredients.

  11. Bring to boil until sauce is thick and velvety.

  12. Serve hamburg with roasted vegetables and hamburg sauce.
