When you’re too tired to whip up a lengthy meal from scratch, air-fryers and rice cookers are your best friend. They’re fast, fuss-free and have minimal clean up work to do post-dinner. 

 

What’s more, with the right recipes, the quality and flavour of food can be almost as good as if you spent hours toiling in the kitchen. We’ve compiled a list of the top 11 air-fryer recipes before, but here are 6 more fast and easy recipes you can easily prepare with just an air-fryer or a rice cooker: 

 

1. One Pot Chicken and Rice with Mushroom

 

If you’re tired of whipping up huge feasts for CNY, try this one-pot dish. It’s also great to clear out the leftover ingredients and vegetables, as the rice will take the flavour of whatever you add in. With literally just 5 simple steps, most of which are in the rice cooker, it’s perfect for a lazy day meal. You can also stir in an egg towards the end of cooking time for extra deliciousness.

2. Easy Roasted Broccoli

 

We all love a good, toasty roasted broccoli with charred bits. To get that texture and flavour, you can skip out on preheating the oven and just use an airfryer! Put chopped and seasoned broccoli in the air fryer for around 8 minutes and 180 degrees and Voila, a side dish is complete. A lazy but healthier-choice option for a meal.

3. Air Fryer Roasted Duck Leg

 

Biting into this tasty and tender duck leg, you would never guess that this was prepared in an air-fryer. The process of air-frying gives the roasted duck leg a certain crispiness that may even surpass the traditional method of roasting. 

 

For this recipe, marination is key. We recommend marinating the duck leg with a mix of salt, 5 spice powder and white pepper. For the best results, marinate for at least an hour before frying. Serve with rice and cucumber for a homemade Kopitiam meal.

4. Quick “Claypot” Chicken Rice

 

Even without a claypot, this one-pot recipe serves up a delectable dish with all the yummy flavours of the typical claypot rice, all in 1 hour or less. We recommend using chicken thigh and Chinese wine sausage for the protein, but you can also toss in other meats if you like! The colours and smells when you lift the lid will be just heavenly – and you might even want to have this at reunion dinner next year!

5. Belacan Fried Chicken 

 

This delicious and appetizing side dish really brings out the best flavours of belacan. If you’re a belacan fan, this is a must-try. Simply marinate the chicken wings and drumsticks in the homemade belacan paste, which consists of belacan, white pepper, coriander, oil, salt and sugar. Let it sit for 2 hours before tossing in the air-fryer at 190 degrees celsius for 15 to 20 minutes. 

 

Alternatively, this recipe also provides the steps to fry the chicken wings in a pan. Regardless of which method you use, you can be sure you’ll end up with addictive fried chicken with a savoury and spicy kick.

6. BONUS: (Microwave Recipe) Muah Chee with Sweetened Black Sesame

 

Rounding up our selection of recipes is none other than this sweet dessert recipe. All you need is glutinous rice, tapioca flour, water, oil, sugar and black sesame powder, which is easily found in shops like Redman or Phoon Huat. Oh, and a microwave, of course! 

 

Depending on what ingredient you use to coat the springy flour mixture with, you can also create this in the classic peanut flavour. Remember to use sweetened ground peanuts for a sweeter treat! If you’re watching your sugar intake, you can also use a mixture of sweetened and unsweetened powder.
